Mobile Terminal Setup

New options have been added to the Mobile Terminal Setup related to handling units.

These options include:

  • Allow New Handling Unit Scan – This option is used during items receiving to determine whether the user can create a new HU by scanning (entering) its number. This is used when HU numbers are pre-printed and not generated by the system. The option has 3 settings – Not allowed, Allowed with confirmation, and Allow.

  • Force Handling Unit in Phys. Inventory – Used during physical inventory. If enabled, when a user scans items located in an HU-tracked location/bin, the system requires entry of the HU. If the user does not enter the HU (and it is required for the location/items), an error message will appear.

  • Complete Unit Usage – This setting allows the use of other items within the same HU during picking and warehouse movements. For example, a picking list may include multiple lines for different items/tracking. The user selects a HU containing suitable items/tracking for one of the lines, and based on the setting, the same HU can be applied to other lines. The options are: No (disable feature); After confirmation (user must confirm full use of HU); Yes (the entire HU is processed automatically), and if cancelled, the entire HU tracking is also cancelled. The default bin is entered in the bin list in the field “Default bin for insertion to HU”.

  • Use Default Bin for Insertion to HU – Used in the “Insert into handling unit” function. If it’s necessary to allow placing items located in a bin with HU expiration settings back into a HU, the system must know which bin the new HU should be created in, and the items will also be moved to this bin. Options include: Never (user must always select the bin when creating a new HU), After confirmation (a prompt asks whether to apply the default bin; if declined, user chooses from all bins), Use default (the default bin is automatically applied).

  • Unpack Unit - Target HU – This setting defines the target HU number in the unpacking process. Options include: Use default (default number series applied based on HU type), After confirmation (user is asked whether to specify an HU; if confirmed, a list of HUs at the location and of the given type is shown; if declined, the default number series is applied), Always specify (user must always choose which HU to unpack into).

  • Allow New Pick Handling Unit Scan - This option is used during items dispatch to determine into which HU the items should be placed. The user can create a new HU by scanning (entering) the number. This is used when HU numbers are pre-printed and not generated by the system. The option allows 3 settings – Not allow, Allow with confirmation, and Allow.

In the Handling Unit Types settings, there is an option Print Label When Creating HU. This specifies whether a label should be printed when a HU of the given type is created.

Mobile Main Menu settings include a new option: “Insertion to HU”. This is used when it is necessary to assemble a HU (from items lying in a bin where HUs are not tracked) and place the HU containing the items into a bin where HUs are tracked.
